Gibraltar Tourist Board is attending the 31st Annual Cruise Shipping Conference in Miami, the
industry’s premier international seminar and exhibition, from March 16-19, 2015. Chief Executive
of the GTB Nicky Guerrero and Albert Poggio, Head of the Gibraltar Government Office in London
are representing the Rock.
Over 11,000 shipping executives and cruise industry representatives including national tourist
organisations, port authorities, ship owners, travel agents and nearly 900 exhibiting companies
from 125 countries, are taking part in one of the leading events of the global maritime calendar.
Gibraltar will have a presence on the MedCruise (Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports) stand
at the prestigious trade at the Miami Beach Convention Centre.
Alongside the national pavilions, the four halls of the colossal venue will be devoted to core themes
such as ship building, operations &technology, destination& ports, market segments and product
development.
Nicky Guerrero highlighted the importance for Gibraltar to be represented at one of the cruise
industry showcases of the year and the value of interaction with major industry stakeholders and
partners at such a massive event.
Minister for Tourism the Hon Samantha Sacramento MP said, “Miami gives us valuable business
networking opportunities and access to the industry’s leading buyers and suppliers. It is important
that we continue to sell the Gibraltar tourist product in specialised international fora such as this,
to ensure that Gibraltar remains a successful and popular cruise and maritime hub in the Western
Mediterranean.”
Gib to host MedCruise General Assembly in 2016
It has also been confirmed that Gibraltar has been selected to host the 47th Medcruise General
Assembly in 2016, which will bring together 73 member ports in the Mediterranean and adjoining
areas from 100 countries.
Medcruise is a well-established international association of regional cruise industry players, tourist
boards and ship/port agents whose aim is to provide networking, promotional, and professional
