Four lectures have been arranged at the Gustavo Bacarisas Gallery during the month of March, aimed to coincide with the events around World Wildlife Day.

The second lecture will be given by Dr Keith Bensusan of the Gibraltar Botanic Gardens on Tuesday 13th March at 6:30pm.

We recently celebrated the UN’s World Wildlife Day, which aims to raise awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants. One way of helping to protect wildlife is to assist in maintaining or enhancing its economic value. This is particularly important because an enormous proportion of the world’s biodiversity is found in developing countries. Travelling to experience wildlife is an extremely rewarding pursuit in a world where human impact continues unabated. This is commonly referred to as ‘ecotourism’ and the term will be discussed. Dr Bensusan will draw on his own experience as a travelling naturalist to outline why he does it, how he does it and what groups he targets. He will end with a slideshow of some of his favourite images from more recent trips.
