The part of Governor's Parade known as the Piazzella has been formally reopened following refurbishment works. Minister for the Environment, John Cortes, said the area in the heart of town had been given a new lease of life, expressing the hope that people will make use of the restored open space.

The Piazzella - the area by the Theatre Royal Park - has been retiled, with new benches, lamp-posts and planters put in. The Government says the infrastructure in the area has also been renewed. And, the trees, which it says were in poor condition - have been replaced with six semi-mature London Planes, the type of tree featured in Commonwealth Park.

Minister Cortes thanked the owners of properties by the Piazella for their support, adding he hoped this improvement would trigger further urban renewal and refurbishment of buildings in the area.
