At certain times of the year, various cultural events take place in the garden's open-air theatre, a beautifully landscaped area which is open for hire for events, private functions and weddings.
Not only are the gardens a peaceful haven away from the bustle of the city centre, it is also the location for Gibraltar's wildlife park which is home to a number of endangered animal species, animals confiscated from ships and unwanted unusual pets.
Hour long tours of the gardens led by a horticulturist will inform the visitor about the plants and history of this 200+ year old garden, and will visit areas that are off limits to the public, such as ‘The Dell'.
